I Think We're Alone Now...
Paul and I headed up north. about an hour away from San Francisco. to enjoy the warmer weather. We just wanted a mini-weekend get-a-way. I am still missing the Mexico trip and the great weather that was there, so it was relaxing to lie by the pool and catch up on some sun. When we decided to take the trip a few weeks ago we didn't know that the place we were going to be staying at would be providing live entertainment! To our surprise there was going to be a singer from the 80s that was going to be singing her hits, all 4 of them! If you have not figured out who this 80s pop star is by the title of this post then you were probably not a child of the 80s or just don't give a shit about music.
The pop star is Tiffany. Tiffany exploded onto the scene in 1987 when she was just 14 years old touring malls singing random songs for teeny-boppers all over the nation. Tiffany's big break came when she recorded a cover of the 1967 hit, "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tommy James and the Shondells. Tiffany exploded over night and the song went all the way to number one on the pop charts. I admit I had the Tiffany album, I was 13 and I was caught up in the late-80s teen sensations that included New Kids on the Block, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany. Tiffany was not a one-hit wonder and followed up her smash-hit with yet another number one single called "Could've Been." Her debut album simply titled, Tiffany, also went number one on the albums charts. She was one of the hottest new pops stars by 1988, but Tiffany's success was short-lived, even though she had a few more top 10 hits in 1988, and by 1989 Tiffany's singing career came to a halt.
It was really interesting to see her after almost 20 years from when she was a teen sensation. She looked good and sang six songs total. She didn't take herself too seriously and was just having fun with the crowd and the few fans that attended her concert in really the middle of nowhere. I am sure Tiffany has a regular 9-5 job like most of us and doing these mini-concerts for a few extra bucks must bring her back to her popularity peak. I am sure she thinks about what could've been with her career, but at least she is enjoying herself and still busting out those dance moves she did when she was a teen.

I loved Tiffany!!!!!!!!!
Did she sing "Could've Been"
Frank
oh yes, she sang Could've been - one if her few hits. She only had six songs to sing! Ha
I am so jealous you got to see her! I saw Tiffany live a few years back and it was awesome. Not as intimate as your show though. It looks like she was singing in someone's backyard BBQ.
These pictures gave me such a great laugh. You two look like you are in front of a pop goddess! I have to say P.J.'s pictures where he is rocking out are the best!
Still...sooooo jealous!
Neil was too star-struck to sing and dance with her! Just look at his face in those pictures... can you imagine how he'd look if he met Madonna?

Ahhh, yeah. I think he'd be flat on his back - passed out - LOL! He'd miss the whole thing :)
Then again, not many of us have the capacity to stand alongside someone famous and function.
If I came anywhere near my top three heart throbs (Jon Bon Jovi, Richard Gere, Robert Redford) I know I'd be lying unconscious on the ground right along with you, Neil - LOL!
I am embaressed how star-struck I was by someeone that really isn't a "star" anymore...sigh ...I guess if I ever met Madonna it would end up with my passed out and no memory of the meeting. Lord, can you imagine if Joan Crawford was still alive! I am not sure what would happen there.....HA!

Yea, it was more of a backyard BBQ type deal - I was shocked at how much she was interacting with the crowd. She was having a blast!

Oh, I have no doubt THAT would kill you, Neil - LOL!
Hey, at least you'd die happy :)
