Sunshine

Yesterday, when I came home from work I grabbed the pile of mail that is usually near the door when I get home. There was this envelope that was all crunched up and it was buldging out. It had no return address, no postmark on the envelope. It was addressed to Paul. Paul is in Chicago for work this week and I called him and told him he had a mystery package with what looks like a present inside. He told me to open it and I did. Below is what was inside:

I know this was meant for Paul so I scanned it in so he could see it and react the same way I did. It made me cry. It’s funny how that sunshine on that piece of paper made me feel so many things. It brought a huge smile to my face, it made me cry, it made me realize the power of tradiational mail (an actual piece of mail is so much more powerful than an email)!!! It also made me think of the song below that my mom used to sing to me when I was a small kid. She would comb my hair back with her hand and sing this song:

You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are grey
You’ll never know dear
How much I love you
Please don’t take
My sunshine…….away

Thanks for posting this, Menks! Don't worry, you're not the only one who simultaneously smiled and shed a tear when he saw this :-)

I showed Zachary this post and he asked: "did Daddy open the present? Was he SO happy to see it?" I told him that Daddy did see it and he loved it.

Now he is going to push some buttons on the keyboard: daddy. ghytrdcxzsaqewsdftyuiolknnbhgvfcv v

Zach really does look like PJ in that picture. It's Zach's school photo that's on the wall at his school.
